This film is based on the life of Luis Miramontes, the Mexican scientist who in 1951, synthesized the main hormone of the birth control pill. The project was funded by The Sloan Foundation with the support of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. The production was shot in Durango, Mexico.
Logline: Mexico City, 1951. After synthesizing the main component of the contraceptive pill, young scientist Luis Miramontes deals with the religious and personal consequences of his groundbreaking invention.
